All About Us

The Kindergarten at St Joseph’s is an independent, family run setting located adjacent to a primary school in the heart of Epsom.

Our opening hours are 7.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday during term time. We provide sessional care for 2.5 to 5 year olds and wrap around care for Reception to Year 6 children from St Joseph’s School.

Location and Facilities

We have a spacious environment inside and out.  Providing plenty of space for children to explore and play. The building is known as the Timber Hut and is on the site of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.

Outside we have a front and a back garden.  Our front garden has a mix of play surfaces which leads to so many different types of play.  Children can sieve in the sand box, collect and compare stones from the pebble pit, mix up mess in the mud kitchen, climb the frame, or sit in the shade of our willow arch.  There is also plenty of space to ride the bikes, play football, build with crates or play hide and seek.

The back garden is grassy and is a great place to play in the drier weather. And the willow den gives the children endless possibilities to use in their play.

We love our planting and watching them grow.  Both gardens display our produce.

Come inside and you see two large indoor play areas.  One room is mostly carpeted, and the Early Years children enjoy using this room during the preschool session.  The room is set up with activities to intrigue and excite the children.  The children soon learn that they can put away toys they are not playing with and find other playthings which are in boxes that are easily reachable.

The other room is mostly non slip flooring and is the room that is used by the D2D.  They use the room for breakfast and tea.  Their large art projects often start here.  During the preschool session the room is used to encourage children’s creative arts and messy play.
